Biography Robin Assen
Hello everyone!
I’m Robin Assen and I’m going to tell a little bit about... well, me, practically. Who I am, what I do, where I come from, what I consist of and some other stuff like that. And I’m inviting you to have a nice seat to spend a little bit of your time with me. So, come on...
You could consider this as my past in a nutshell, also referred to by really interesting people as a biography. But since I’m not that kind of an interesting person, yet, I’m just gonna sit down and talk a little bit about myself here. Now, pay attention! ‘Cause this ain’t happ’nin’ an awful lot, people!!
I was born on the 26th of February 1983, right spot on on the exact calculated day of birth. This event all happened in a hospital in a small town in the North East of Holland called Coevorden. I’m blessed with a wonderful dad and the dearest mom you can find, obviously, who’s names I’m not gonna mention out of safety reasons. All those weird people banging on their frontdoor in the middle of the night, ya know...
KIDDING! My dad’s name is Herman and my mom’s is Truus. And I think because I was this sweet, loving, quite, not-needing-attention-at-all kind of child (no, really!), they descided to give me a brother and a sister later on; Barry, my beloved brother and Claudi my sweetest, darling little sister. Those people did a great job in pulling me through a happy and careless childhood for the first 18 years. But after my great life in highschool, where we, by the way, had the most amazing end-of-year-party ever seen till then and where I did my first couple of gigs, I descided to travel.
I travelled Australia, New Sealand and Bali for half a year. First I went alone in November, but later my dad was coming over to spend new years with me and family of ours in Wangarei, New Sealand. A weird thing, considering the fact I had never spend new years without my mom, brother and sister (at least for as long as I could remember) in a temperature of 20+ degrees Celsius at the extraordinary beautiful beach at the east coast in the north of the Northern Island. It was amazing!
Later, after my dad had left to his duties back home again and I had returned to Australia, a friend of mine, came over to spend my last couple of months in Australia. Man, we should have gotten arrested for the amount of fun we had back then!!
After I had returned back to Holland from the trip I started to work for a transport and logistical company. (Hey, it was in the middle of school season, so give me a break, will ya!) My collegues were the most wonderful people and I made a few good friends over there. But man, I learned an awfull lot about the business life over there! I learned so much about the business life that I descided to follow my pre-Australian thought meanderings; to go and study what had been a huge Assential part of my being during my life, – except for my existence, of course - music. So I went for an audition at the Academy of Pop Culture in Leeuwarden, Holland, and got accepted.

So I went for an audition at the Academy of Pop Culture in Leeuwarden, Holland, and got accepted.
The next year and a half I spend my life here, among
all these wonderful people who all cared so much about
the same thing I’ve always loved; music. And even the
people who studied other disciplines than music where
great! Go figure what a nice place it was to spend your
days at for a year and a half! The atmosphere was
really cool and it was here I made a few wonderful
friends of whom I’m certain I will always remain
loving. (Come on, guys! You know who you are!) And a
couple of bands that I've played in we're founded at
this academy; Little March and Grooves Inc.
But after a while it became clear to me that this was indeed an academy for pop cultural stuff. And I was getting more and more eager on learning stuff about music in a more specific kind of way. So I left. And once again I ended up working at the same T&L company I had worked fore two years earlier. Only this time I ended up doing stuff that actually were important and wich contained actual responsability!! Again it was great fun, but I had tasted the life of spending your days making music. So hey, what could you expect! As soon as the new season of auditions came, I descided to do an audition at the Amsterdam Conservatory of Music.
And here I am now! For already two amazingly great years! It is here that I do what I love doing the most; making music, playing music, learning about music and all the other stuff that involves this creature of upper state being. Recently I’ve started my own band as a composer/rock 'n roll guitar player: The AsSense (Warning: Strings Involved!). Check it out at the Music department further up on the website and see if you can dig it!
Also I recently joined the bands Navarone and Najchevski as a drummer. Check them out aswell as soon as you can!
And of course you get pulled into countless of other projects in these kinds of environments. That's the joy of it!
Alright. Well, you got the rough story over here. I got some more cool stuff I did in my life explained or exposed further up on the website. I hope you’ll enjoy it. And if you do or don’t, I love hearing about it in the Guestbook. And if you got questions or remarks, please let me know via an e-mail.
Thanks a bunch for your attention and have a nice first day of the rest of your life today!
Ciao.
